SUMMER IS FINALLY HERE!!!!!!!!
I absolutely love this time of year. The sun shining bright early in the morning....the birds chirping for your wake up call.....the pools, the tans, the "summer" drinks!!! Love it all. And yes- I know it gets to be 112 here in the great state of Texas.....but deal with it. It is part of being a Texan!!!! :)
I decided I want to keep the boys as busy as possible this summer. Give them so many things to do they don't have time to even think they are bored. I came up with a plan.....it is called "Alphabet Summer!"
I will be focusing on a "letter of the day" one or two times a week. We will be doing activities that relate to that letter. We will eat food that relates to that letter. We will do crafts that relate to that letter. We will have special guest that relate to that letter. You get the point?
We started out with "A" day last week. It was FUN!!!! We invited my Mom (Memaw) to go with us to the Aquarium. We went to the Children's Aquarium in Fair Park (not the Dallas Aquarium.) It was fantastic. Just big enough to keep the kids attention, not too expensive, and they had some pretty good aquarium'ish animals. :)
We saw all kinds of cool fish and water animals. Landry's favorite were the seahorses, and Gavin's were the jelly fish. They also LOVED the stingrays. Children's Aquarium now has a new section were you get to go and actually pet/feed the sting rays. The boys did awesome....in fact I was more scared to stick my hand in that water than my 2 and 4 yr old were. Geez....come on Mom....get tough!
The one sea creature we really focused on though were the ALLIGATORS. We talked about Alligators before we got there because of course, they start with an "A." Coolest thing about the Aquarium Alligators though was that they were ALBINO. Score-double A.....ALBINO ALLIGATOR!
We then went outside to have a picnic lunch. It was such a beautiful day....we all enjoyed the weather and each others company. The lunch menu for that day was:
APPLE juice, APPLE slices, ALMONDS, APRICOTS, AND ANIMAL crackers. While eating lunch we saw an AIRPLANE in the sky, and Landry even pointed out that a squirrel playing in the grass around us was eating an ACORN.
ANTS go marching was a song selection of the day.....and we worked on letter A worksheets and coloring pages. We were supposed to paint ACORNS as our craft...but the little men were too tired. They had a long day and were in bed quite early that night!
So- here is to Alphabet Summer. "B" day is today.....can you guess what is in store for the Warner Brothers? :)
