Flashback Friday

**** I can not take credit for this idea ****

So, my friend, Kerri, started a new thing today on her precious blog called "FLASHBACK FRIDAY!" She posted a pic today of her little guy, Noah, when he was a little little guy!!! :) So cute! I loved the idea so I completely hi-jacked it. I love going through all my old pictures from years ago and seeing how so much has changed in our lifes. I am going to jump on the Flashback Bandwagon (thanks again for the idea Kerri), and try to post something every Friday from the Warners past. So here it goes.....

I thought since this is my first Flashback Friday post....I would take it back old school. I mean REALLY, REALLY old school. Where it all began (The Warner family that is.) Kyle and I started dating in high school. No- we were not high school sweethearts. But, we did start dating with about 4 weeks left in our senior year. Five years later, this happened.............

WE ARE ENGAGED!!!! (October 23, 2005)


This is the first photo of Kyle and I after we got engaged. Funny thing is....Kyle did NOT pop the question at this UNT game we were at. It actually happened the night before. I am very sad to say, we actually didn't get any pictures that night. :( Looking back....I am kicking myself for that. But, back then, I don't think we were really thinking about it (plus....phones weren't as cool in 2005 as they are now. I don't think the camera phone was an option....and I don't believe I had my regular camera with us.) Anyway....I will sum up our engagement night as quickly as possible. Kyle and I were supposed to be going out with some great friends of ours, Brandon and Anne Streng, for a fancy dinner at Three Forks. This was a big deal to us, because we were still young and broke (who am I kidding....still are {except for the "young" part.} lol) About a hour before we were supposed to leave, Anne called me and told me they were going to have to back out of going to dinner (reason = I don't remember.) I hadn't talked to Kyle yet, but once Anne cancelled, I figured there was no way Kyle would still want to go just us two (to spend that much $ on a meal...remember right out of college = broke!) So-I was at my apartment with my roommate Neeley just hanging out. Kyle called and asked if I was ready. "For what.....are we still going" was my reply. He said he was already dressed and had been stoked about going all day, so he didn't want to cancel also. That meant I needed to get dressed up.....STAT!!! At this point I still thought nothing about the night. It wasn't until he showed up at our apartment with roses for me that I started to get suspicious. And, it wasn't necessarily the roses for me....it was the flowers he brought over for Neeley also....HUM.....what the heck is going on! :)

Long story short...this is how the rest of the night progressed:
*I really thought he would propose at dinner....he did NOT
*waiter asked if we wanted dessert. After I answered no, Kyle interrupted me and said YES- yes she does!
*dessert got to our table, but nothing in the sweet treat except delicious chocolate, and lots of calories.
*I am frustrated and beside myself (still with a fake smile on though I may add....trying not to show it)
*we head to Addison Improv for some comedy
*realize if Kyle was going to propose it would have been at some place nice like 3 Forks, and probably not at a smokey, comedy club
*I start drinking more and more wine because I am upset (hiding my feelings around him of course)
*we head back to his place (well- he was actually living with his brother and sis-in-law at this time) so their place
*I start to fall asleep in the car (WINE!) :)
*he keeps telling me to stay awake....I ignore him
*he frantically says he needs to call his brother (I had no idea why)
*we get back to the house....I walk in the front door and

BAM

rose pedals are all over the floor leading all the way to his bedroom. We walk into his room that was covered with flowers and candles (hence..."get a hold of his brother"...to light the candles and get out of there) :) And, there it was.....MY ENGAGEMENT RING ON HIS DESK!!!!!! As I turn around to him standing behind me, he was on one knee and so sweetly says, "Will you please become my Mrs Warner?"
(his favorite part about the story is {which I really don't remember much of} supposedly I put my purse on his desk....right next to the ring. He said I completely overlooked it.....lol!)

It ended up being such a sweet and special night (which I later felt bad about pouting deep down all night....sorry Mr Warner!) :) And just so you know....the whole "friends cancelling on us" was a set up....he had that planned the whole time! They were never going out with us in the first place, and I do believe they were the first to know that Kyle was popping the question that night!

The next morning we headed out to tailgate at the UNT game and to meet up with all our friends. The announcement was made.....and the wedding planning began (literally...I think I had the whole wedding day planned out by the end of that weekend.) ha!

And that, is the true beginning of Mr and Mrs Warner!!! :)

Refocusing on Blog: Volume One

I'm officially spoiled!!! We got a laptop the other day after moving into this house. I LOVE it. I am laying in bed updating this.....AWESOME! Why have none of you told me about the goodness of laptops???? :)

I know I have said it before, but I am going to try and do better about updating. I think having this new addition will definitely help with this task. It is so fresh and new....not bogged down with anything yet. Did I mention I love this thing?

I got my camera out and boy, am I behind. I'm just now getting around to sharing pictures from Christmas. The boys had a fantastic time this year, and Kyle and I enjoyed the time together and with family. As always.....Christmas went by way to fast this year. I just love that season!

Back to our Roots!!!

I realize it has been forever since I blogged. When I pulled up our blog site, I heard Christmas music. That shows me I have neglected this thing. But, come on....it is not like we have had nothing going on.

We sold our house in Wylie and are now living back in the town that Kyle and I grew up in.....ROCK CITY (Rockwall for those of you confused and saying, "I have never heard of Rock City!") lol

We love it. I feel at home. It is great being so close to family again (not like we were super far before....but still.) We are just renting a small little place for now (6 months to be exact.) In July we are hopefully going to be re-settling again in the same area, but on some land....some acres. We are ready for bonfires and 4 wheelers. :)

I have tons of pictures from the holidays and the past couple of months. Since we just got internet up and going at the new place (literally like 5 minutes ago) I will have to upload later.

But, for now....we are good and making ourselves at home! More to come soon.....

THREE days....

OH.MY.GOODNESS!!!! Only three days until Christmas. Although it is a stressful time of year, I do LOVE the holidays and everything that comes with them. I luckily did most of my Christmas shopping over the past two months, so I haven't had to use elbows or dirty looks to get my way in the stores this year. Santa is going to be very good to the boys ;) but I will wait until after the "big day" to reveal what all the boys got for being so good *snicker.*

LOTS of stuff is going on with us. After the 8 day ICU stay for Gavin during Thanksgiving....the days have just FLOWN by. Quick update on that.....he is now in the care of a Pulmonologist, and things are going well (knock on wood.) He takes a controller medicine 2 times a day. So far, we have kept his asthma under control (even in this on again off again cold weather.) And, the Dr says that his "injured" lung will eventually grow stronger without any outside help (ie...surgery, etc.) For now, we just stick to the meds, see the specialist for check ups, and pray he completely heals soon.


My brother and his family moved back to Texas after a 2.5 year stay in Geneva, Switzerland. I know they are so excited to be back on Texas soil, and we couldn't be more thrilled that they are only 4.5 hrs away (Katy, TX) compared to ACROSS THE OCEAN! Unfortunately, we were not able to get out there and visit during their adventure, but that's ok. We love hearing stories and seeing pictures.....but love having them back even more. They will be here in just a few days to celebrate Christmas. VERY excited!

PLACE TO LIVE IN MID-JANUARY! ha...I know I got some of you. ;) After 2 weeks of our house being on the market with the amazing Aaron Morrow and team, our house sold (or should I say is under contract.) Closing day is on Jan 9th (and so far things are still on track.) What does this mean for us......well, we still don't exactly know where we will be living in the next couple of months. I am trying to not stress, for I know it will all work out. Our plan for now is to rent a place for 6 months (or so) and then purchase the house of our dreams. We are really wanting some land (couple acres) and to be out in the COUNTRY. No neighborhoods, no city lights, just the sound of crickets chirping. We want the boys to ride four wheelers through the open fields. We want BONFIRES. We want to get away from reality as much as possible. I ask for prayers during this time of transition. There is a lot going on in this family (possible promotion for Kyle as well....but I will talk more about that later after we hear more.) We hope everyone has a wonderful holiday and please remember the reason for this season. Jesus was born on this day. He later would take away ALL our sins no matter how big or how small. He saved us from destruction and gave us a chance to live eternal life with our Father up in heaven. Amen!

Gavin Update

First of all, I want to thank you ALL for the sweet comments, text messages, phone calls, and messages you have sent. Your prayers and concerns mean the world to the Warner family. If I haven't had a chance to respond, please know your kindness was not overlooked. I truly appreciate you, and we are so blessed to have such great family and friends standing behind us through all of this.

Landry: Landry had an asthma attack on Monday morning (1:30am.) We tried to handle it at home with breathing treatments and medicine. I took him into the pediatrician around 2:00 on Monday afternoon because I felt he was just not improving the way I wanted him too. He responded well to the treatments there, but by the time we got to Children's Medical Center (I will give you that story in a minute), he was struggling to breath again and was wheezing like crazy. They decided he needed to go ahead and be admitted also. Landry spent Monday and Tuesday night in the hospital due strictly to an asthma attack! He was released Wednesday afternoon. I am happy to report he is home and doing great.

Gavin: Here is the more complicated story. Same exact thing as above happened with Gavin also. It was strange having them both wake up and in so much distress that morning. Later we found out from the doctors, that with the huge change in weather the day before, they were seeing LOTS of asthma episodes. Some of you may recall, Gavin had a similar episode like this last year in October. The difference in my two boys is Landry responds well to treatments and pulls out of this stuff quickly, Gavin does NOT!! :( So- Monday when we went to the pediatrician, he wasn't responding at all to the in office treatments. So, they sent us over to Children's ER with him. After his chest x-ray, they discovered that Gavin's left lung (upper lobe) had "collapsed." This on a regular day would scare me, but it happened last year as well.....so the news was not shocking. During his attacks he pulls SO hard in to breath his left lung just can't hold up. They say it "collapses" but what this really means for him is he is sucking in so much, and there is so much mucus in there, that they kind of stick together, or deflate. The doctor is not sure why this happens other than the history of Gavin and respiratory problems is not good. He had RSV at 3 months (which we were hospitalized for), and then last year's 4 day stay at Children's also. So- his lung (left side particularly) is weaker than the other, and causes problems.

So- why are we still in the hospital now: they are having trouble getting his lung to "inflate" if you will. After all the trouble he has been through the past week, his little lung is just not healing fast enough. They are having a hard time getting him to clear the mucus ("secretions") from his chest, and without doing that, the lung is having trouble inflating back. They have done all kinds of therapies to try and help him with this, but it is just taking it's sweet time. Obviously, with one lung not functioning 100%, his oxygen levels are staying pretty low. He will do OK during the day, but at night his levels drop to 85-88%. They will not release us until he can stay above 97% ON HIS OWN (no machines) which he hasn't even made it to yet (the no machine part.) His respiratory therapist described to me, that the way he feels at the end of the day after fighting to breath, is the equivalent of you and I running a marathon A DAY!!!! Could you imagine....being 3 years old and feeling like that? Poor baby!!! So- although we were admitted with an asthma attack with him too on Monday, we are now facing a "lung issue" that is keeping us in there. His asthma itself is under control. They have spread his albuterol breathing treatments to every 6 hours as of yesterday. But, we have to get his lung back to 100% functioning before we can leave (obviously.) So- it looks like we will be hanging out in ICU until his little lung feels like it is ready to heal, and Gavin feels like he can breath normally again. The doctors are having to push back the estimated day of going home every day. As of right now, it looks like Tuesday or Wednesday, but it really all depends on Gavin's body. So basically, we have no clue when we will be getting out. It is a waiting game. :(

Everyone is doing OK. Poor Landry is just being shuffled around. I feel guilty that he is not getting tons of attention from Mom and Dad considering he was just sick and not feeling good either. But, he is a trooper and understands. Thanks to my Mom and Dad who took him all day yesterday. They went and saw the Muppet Movie (which I am jealous about b/c I really want to see it.) But- it helped having him something to do. Gavin is under "isolation" (meaning you have to wear mask, gloves, gown) at the hospital because they are trying to prevent ANYTHING getting into his lungs and setting us back even further. So- we haven't allowed Landry to go up there since he left (for his sake too.) Gavin is hanging in there. He has good and bad moments. The steroids make him mean at times. And, of course he is hating the wires and needles all over him....but he is also a trooper and is doing the best you can expect from a 3 year old. Kyle and I are tired, but we are OK. We have been switching off nights up there, and the other comes home to be with Landry. I just can't wait to have us all under one roof again.

Once again...I can't thank you all enough for the thoughts and especially the PRAYERS!!!! Please keep them coming for this little guy's left lung to heal quickly and get back to it's normal functions.

Gaylord Texan

My Daddy has always been such a hard worker. He has always provided for his family...ALWAYS!!!! And, now years after my brother and I have moved out of our parents house, my Dad still provides us through his hard work. My Dad works at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine, TX. He has been there since they opened. He is the Sr Food and Beverage Buyer out there, so if you ever have anything to eat or drink at this fine establishment, there is a pretty good chance my Daddy ordered it for you!!! ;)

Since he has been working at the Gaylord, we, his family, have been privileged with so many cool and exciting benefits (all because of his hard work!) Everything from discounted rooms, to special events, to special access to Paradise Springs (the new outdoor pool) before it opened to public, to EVEN OUR WEDDING!!! Kyle and I had our reception there in the huge atrium......WOW!!!!!! Will never forget that fairy tale night.

Every year we get to hit up the big ICE show with my Dad's tickets. It is so incredibly neat. This year the theme of Christmas around the Gaylord is Dream Works production. So- the ICE show this year is Shrek!!! SO NEAT!!! But, there was an added bonus that the kids got to do this year. They only allowed a certain amount of employees to attend a lunch with Shrek, Fiona, and Puss and Boots. What this means is my Mom and Dad took Landry and Gavin to a special lunch on Sunday of last week. They got to meet Shrek and all the other characters. They got Shrek food and Swamp Juice (which apparently Gavin was a big fan of.) It was really special and they had a great time. Then- on Wednesday of last week, my Dad treated me, the boys, and my Mom to our yearly outing to ICE. It was GOOD....as always!!! It is amazing how great and in detail the ice structures always are. We go around 4:00 on a Wednesday every year and it is NEVER crowded (b/c school isn't out yet, and it is in the middle of the day/week.) So- we have a great time walking around, checking everything out. The ICE slide is always a big hit. This year Gavin didn't have a nap before we went out there, so to say he was in a "foul" mood is being nice! :/ But- Landry had a great time and did the slide all by himself, twice. It was 2 degrees that day inside the ICE exhibit (literally.) But- since we have been multiple years, we come prepared with scarves, mittens, hats, etc.

We had a great time. Thanks again Dad for all your hard work, and always inviting us to do cool and exciting things with you at your job. We love you and are so proud of all your accomplishments there!!!

Cars Birthday Party

In just 2 short days, the youngest little Warner man will turn THREE!!!! I cant believe how fast the time has flown. He is definitely our little stubborn guy. Don't you all know that he can do EVERYTHING himself. Ahhh- he is a toot....but I love that little toot. Before I know it I will be sending him off to Kindergarten....so I am ignoring the independence struggle and enjoying one day at a time. :)

For the better half of a year, little G-man has been saying he wants a Cars Birthday. When it finally came time to plan the celebration, I wasn't real sure what to do with Cars. If he were a little older, we could have done the whole "Speed Zone"/go cart thing. But, not a group of 1-3 year olds. I figured since he LOVES the movie Cars, we should just watch that at his party. And then it hit me.....my boss has a projector that we use at the gym every now and then. I asked her if I could borrow it, and from there....we set up an Outdoor Movie Theatre. It was sooo much fun. We have another friend that has an actual popcorn machine. So- he brought that over for us to use. I bought all the concession stand goodies at Sam's (hot dogs, nachos, candy, etc.) Other than it being a tad bit windy....the weather turned out great being that it is November. Both of my kids have a "in between seasons" bday (Nov and April.) So- we are always taking a chance when we plan outdoor activities for them. But, this year it worked out great!!!!

Thanks to everyone that came out. It was a fantastic night. Gavin really enjoyed his Cars birthday!!!
